Jewellery That Tells a Story: Personal Commissions in Silver
Not every commission starts with a big occasion. Sometimes it’s a stone you’ve held onto for years, symbol you share with someone close or just the quiet feeling that it’s time to treat yourself.
In this post, I’m sharing a second collection of bespoke stories. Smaller in scale? Maybe. But just as full of meaning. You’ll see how even the simplest ideas can become lasting keepsakes, and how a well-made piece of jewellery can hold memories, milestones, or just a little everyday joy.
These commissions were shaped by the people who wear them. Personal, thoughtful, and always handmade in recycled silver.
Floral Jewellery Set: Bold, Feminine, and One of a Kind
I had the pleasure of creating a bespoke jewellery set for a client who was attending a wedding. She wanted a ring, earrings, and a bracelet to complement a stunning floral dress she planned to wear.
Her brief was simple… Actually, it was just a photo of the dress, but from that image, I knew exactly what I wanted to create.

The goal was to make something bold yet feminine, pieces that would stand out without overpowering the outfit. I decided to use water casting, a technique perfect for crafting unique, organic shapes. For the ring, I created three distinct floral forms and soldered them onto a double, split shank band. Elegant but eye-catching.
The bracelet features elongated trace links with petals soldered loosely on top, allowing them to move gently with every gesture. To complete the set, I designed simple splash-shaped stud earrings that echo the floral theme without being too busy.

All pieces were made from recycled sterling silver. Thoughtful, sustainable, and beautifully tactile. It was a joy to bring the floral inspiration to life in a way that felt fresh, personal, and perfectly suited to the occasion.
I had jewellery set custom made for me by MDK and I love it. Also purchased earrings for my sis, which she wears all the time. Love how original and different MDK jewellery is. Highly recommend! — Magda
Bespoke Earthy Stone Pendant and Stud Earrings: Natural Beauty in Every Layer
For this commission, I worked with a stunning piece of dendritic layered picture stone. Its rich bands of browns, creams, and reds create a natural, earthy palette that feels both grounded and unique.
The client chose a simple bezel setting to let the stone’s colours and textures take centre stage.

The pendant and matching stud earrings were crafted using recycled sterling silver and fine silver, combining sustainability with timeless design.
The clean, minimal setting highlights the stone’s natural patterns, making each piece one-of-a-kind.
While there isn’t a detailed backstory for this set, its beauty speaks for itself. A reminder that sometimes, the most powerful stories come directly from nature.
Ethiopian Opal Ring: A Stone with Sentimental Value
This bespoke commission began with a gemstone. A beautiful Ethiopian opal cabochon that my client already owned. It held personal meaning for her, and she wanted it turned into a ring she could wear every day.

The stone was quite small, so we needed to find a way to let it shine without overwhelming it. We decided on a delicate round-profile band made from recycled sterling silver, paired with a fine silver bezel setting to hold the stone securely while keeping the overall look light and refined.

The result is simple, classic, and full of sentiment. Best of all, she now carries her cherished opal with her wherever she goes. A quiet, personal reminder of what matters most.
Each of these pieces tells a quiet story shaped by the person who commissioned it, and made to be worn, loved, and remembered.
