Jewellery should feel effortless. But some of the advice out there? Not so much.

Let’s clear up a few myths that might be holding you back, or making things more complicated than they need to be.

1. “Silver isn’t for everyday wear.”

Actually, it’s perfect for it.

Solid sterling silver (the kind I work with) is made to be lived in. It won’t flake, fade or lose its value. In fact, the more you wear it, the better it looks. So if you’ve got a piece you love - wear it. Every day if you like.

2. “Tarnish means poor quality.”

Not quite.

Tarnish is just silver reacting to air or moisture. It happens to all real silver, even the highest quality. It’s easy to clean, and honestly, a sign that you’re wearing the good stuff. If you’re not sure how to deal with it, I’ve written a separate blog showing exactly how to get rid of tarnish the gentle way. Simple steps, no harsh stuff. How to Clean Your Silver Jewellery Using Natural and Sustainable Methods.

3. “The bathroom is the best place to store jewellery.”

Only if you like unnecessary cleaning.

Steam and humidity speed up tarnishing. If you want your jewellery to stay looking its best, keep it dry and give it a little breathing space. A fabric-lined box does the job nicely. If you’d like a few more simple tips to help your silver last, I’ve put together a full care guide with everything you need to know. You can read How to Care for Your Silver Jewellery for all the details.

4. “Recycled silver isn’t as pure.”

It is.

Recycled sterling silver is still sterling silver. Same quality, same shine. Just a more thoughtful choice. Less waste, lower footprint, and no compromise on finish or feel. 5. “Handmade jewellery is less ‘perfect’.”

Let’s redefine perfect.

Mass-produced jewellery is uniform. Handmade pieces have character. You might spot subtle textures or soft curves but that’s what makes each piece feel like it was made for you. If you’d like to see what that looks like in practice, browse the collection and explore the pieces for yourself.

6. “Statement jewellery is for special occasions only.”

Only if you want it to be.

A sculptural earring or a bold ring can lift a white tee or a cashmere jumper just as easily as it can dress up an evening look. It’s not about saving things for best. It’s about feeling your best, any day of the week.

7. “Jewellery looks after itself.”

Not quite.

Real jewellery deserves real care. A soft cloth, the occasional polish, a safe spot to sleep - that’s all it needs. A little effort, for a lot of longevity. You can read How to Care for Your Silver Jewellery for all the details.

In short?

Jewellery should make life feel a little more beautiful, not more complicated.

Wear it. Enjoy it. Look after it. The rest is just noise.
